The Brian Lara Cricket Academy is a multi-purpose cricket stadium and training facility located in Tarouba, San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago. Named after West Indies legend Brian Charles Lara, it was envisioned in 2004 by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago through UDeCOTT as a world-class cricket venue and academy.Although initial plans aimed for it to host warm-up matches for the 2007 Cricket World Cup, construction delays meant the venue was not ready in time. The stadium was finally completed and inaugurated in 2017.With a spectator capacity of about 15,000, comprising fixed seating and grass banks, the facility includes a full-sized cricket ground with two ends (North End and South End) and meets international standards. It has hosted high profile events such as the finals of the Caribbean Premier League from 2017 to 2020.As a training academy, it offers practice pitches, professional locker rooms, broadcast/media facilities, and ancillary infrastructure to support player development.Today, the Brian Lara Cricket Academy stands as a landmark venue in Trinidad and Tobago’s cricket landscape, serving both as a match-venue and a training hub, helping nurture domestic cricket and raising the standard of facilities in the region.
