The Lal Mahal, originally built in 1630 by Shahaji Bhosale for his wife Jijabai and young son Shivaji, holds immense historical significance. It was here that Shivaji Maharaj spent his early years, imbibing the values of leadership, bravery, and Swarajya. Though the original structure was destroyed, the present-day reconstructed Lal Mahal still attracts visitors with its red-bricked charm. Inside, one can find statues, paintings, and exhibits showcasing scenes from Shivaji’s life, including the famous encounter with Shaista Khan. Situated near Shaniwar Wada, Lal Mahal remains a place of inspiration, where history comes alive for students, researchers, and admirers of Maratha heritage.
