Sports injuries such as minor strains and sprains to more serious fractures and dislocations are common, no matter what type of physical activity one participates in. For instance, data from Johns Hopkins Medicine released in 2023 shows that there are about 30 million American children and adolescents participating in organized sports every year but over one-third of them more than 10.5 million got injured badly enough to affect their playing time on the field. Injuries that occur during sports account for almost a third of all juvenile injuries and in which sprains and strains usually occur.
