Shailputri Mata: The First Form of Goddess Durga
The first of the nine goddess forms reverberating during the Hindu festival of Navratri is Shailputri Mata. She is also known as Parvati, or the daughter of the mountain king, Himalaya. The term “Shailputri” means “daughter of the mountain” literally.
