\"The Future of AI: Breakthroughs, Ethics, and Impact on Society\" Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Augmented Reality are terms that are prevalent or “trending” in today’s day and age. AI history or the conceptualization of AI pays its roots back to the middle of the 20th century. AI garnered notable attention in the 2000s with the introduction of Virtual Assistant i.e. Apple’s Siri. Fast forward to the decade of 2020s, ChatGPT launched in 2022 becoming a highly popularised AI platform laying the foundation for many to come. According to a Forbes Advisor report, the global AI market size is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 37.3% and is estimated to reach a robust $ 1,811.8 billion by 2030. “The Future of AI: Breakthroughs, Ethics, and Impact on Society\" Breakthroughs In the Field of Artificial Intelligence If we talk about the history of AI, we should be aware of the key milestones and some relevant events that brought us to the present situation of AI. A few discussable moments of AI history are: • Dartmouth Conference: The conference that took place in 1956 at Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, USA was a first of its kind which was participated by research from the field of Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics, amongst others. Topics in AI, including natural language processing, problem-solving and other AI subfields created a foundation for AI research that included the development of programming languages and algorithms to build human-like machines. It was attended by other great scientists such as Alan Turing, John McCarthy, Marvin Minsky, etc where the term “Artificial Intelligence” was born. • AI Boom in the 1960s:The \'60s defined a pivotal era that gained interest and progress in AI development. Ample data in the form of human recipes as well as exploring methods to make intelligent machines were explored driven by heavy ambition and innovation, whilst extracting lessons from the mistakes and failures of the past. During this period, pioneering AI systems like the General Problem Solver (GPS) and the ELIZA program were created. This period set the stage for great advances in AI in the years ahead. • The Downturn in AI Development: The increase in AI developments in the years following the \'60s was followed by a slowdown in the 1980s. A lot of it was down to a failure to execute the projects that were born in the 60s. Because of this underperformance and under-delivery of promises and commitments, there was a drastic cut in funding and investments in the AI community of developers and researchers. This period was significant in showing the shortcomings and limitations that AI had.
