For many older travellers, the easiest first India trip is a deliberately slow route with two or three nights in each city, one main outing per half-day and a private air-conditioned vehicle. Jaipur, Udaipur, Delhi and Agra can work well for history and culture; Kumarakom or Kochi can provide a gentler Kerala finish; Rishikesh, Haridwar and Varanasi suit travellers whose priority is spiritual experience. Ranthambore, hill stations, houseboats and ghat access require more individual screening because steps, uneven ground, vehicle movement, altitude or boarding conditions may be demanding.
